The Ottawa Folk Festival was a fantastic experience for us! Winners of the 2009 ONE FRET LESS Award, we were very honoured and thrilled to be a part of this festival, nominated the Best Folk Fest in North America!
Each year, the Ottawa Folk Festival presents the Helen Verger Award to an individual who has made significant, sustained contributions to folk/roots music in Canada. This year’s recipient, was our producer Paul Mills, who has been an integral part of the Canadian folk music scene for more than thirty years. Way to go Paul!! We're glad you quit your day job!!
Stewed Roots thanks go far, but especially to Lane- artist liason extraordinaire, Dave- sound engineer with the golden touch, Dave-our roadie and sincere supporter, Harvey and Louise Glatt-generous donors of our One Fret Less Award, the Good Lovelies who were kind enough to include us on their stage, all of our stage buddies who welcomed us openly & all the volunteers who fed us, cleaned up after us, and cared for our instruments.
Stewed Roots is 'over the moon' with all the audience support, new friends and fantastic experiences from this weekend. 'The best songwriting I've heard in a long time' - Bryan Bowers, autoharp master extraordinaire. CHEERS OTTAWA!!
